Welcome to DDScottville Lotus Lights!

Happy Soul-Full Sunday Peeps!

And Welcome to my DDScottville Lotus Lights!

What are Lotus Lights?

In my new, bestselling book on Spiritual Awakening - I AM GOOD ENOUGH: One Non-Guru's Path to Spiritual Awakening (No Trip to India Required), I share fabulous tips that I call Lotus Lights. Lotus Lights help you rise out of the dark mud of your ego. Our egos hold us back, preventing progress on our paths to spiritual awakening. (I teach you how to work with your ego throughout the book.)

I call these bits of daily guidance Lotus Lights because the lotus, one of the most-used symbols of enlightenment today, is a perfect example of a being that continues to rise each day despite having to travel through the muddy bottoms of the waterways it calls home. It makes this journey without a single stain to show for it on its glorious petals, prompting the great Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh to title his book on the art of transforming suffering to mindfulness No Mud No Lotus. One of my favorite mantras.

Think of my Lotus Lights as benevolent vibrations of loving-kindness leading your way along the path to spiritual awakening. It's as if I'm giving you your own personal Tinkerbell, showering you with the miraculous Divine dust that you've had at your disposal all along but forgotten about.

One of my goals in writing I AM GOOD ENOUGH is to build a community where spiritually-awakened or awakening beings can connect and spread unconditional love around the world. To begin this endeavor, I'm introducing a wonderful and beautifully designed collection of memes featuring my favorite quotes from the book. These are the words I channeled from my spirit to yours, filling each of us with love and light.

I'll post the Lotus Lights here in DDScottville as well as on my DDScottville Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest pages two to three times per week. Feel free to share them anyway you'd like to.

Let's see how far we can spread our spiritually-awakening hearts and minds...

Stop Watches, Yogis and Cauliflower (An Excerpt from I AM GOOD ENOUGH)

Happy Thursday, DDScottville Peeps!

I'm humbled and so full of gratitude to let you know that within the first 24 hours of the release of my first self-help spiritual book - I AM GOOD ENOUGH: One Non-Guru's Path to Spiritual Awakening (No Trip to India Required), the book soared to the Top 100 Bestselling Spiritual Books on Amazon (making it as high as #42) and was the #4 Bestselling Hot New Release in Spiritual Books.

On Amazon

Thank you to each and every one of you who's already bought your ebook copy. And thank you for all of your wonderful comments, messages and emails on what the book is meaning to you as you read through it. A special thank you to the super-sweet Carolyn Kenney who stayed up very-very late the night after it was released, read the book in its entirety and posted a fabulous 5-Star Review on Amazon the next morning.

I appreciate and love all of you, and I'm thrilled to share my path to spiritual awakening.

My first I-AGE (I Am Good Enough) crisis began when I was in Middle School. Sixth Grade to be exact. PE (Physical Education) Class to be even more exact. While I was being tormented by my teachers and their God-forsaken stopwatches.

Here's a Sneak Peek at the first few pages of Chapter One where I share my issue with stop watches and my love for yogis and cauliflower...

Chapter 1

Stop Watches, Yogis, Happily-Ever-Afters and Cauliflower

“Make it a practice to associate with persons of creative talent, and to read books that will inspire and encourage you.”---Paramahansa Yogananda

Steve Jobs read one book every year, the only book he downloaded onto his iPad. It was the Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda, a guide to meditation and spirituality he’d first read as a teenager.

It also happened to be the book that my first issue of Yoga Journal Magazine recommended. So that’s where I began my journey. I started my path to spiritual awakening reading the life-changing work of Yogananda. Every step I’ve taken since, I’ve relied on his love and wisdom as guiding stars.

From the first chapter I read, I felt as if I were walking beside Yogananda, realizing early on that he would be one of my great teachers, perhaps my greatest.

Yogananda often talked about the disciple-guru relationship. In fact, page one of his autobiography begins with this very idea. He tells how he found his first great teacher (Lahiri Mahasaya of Benares) when he was still but a small boy in India.

Yogananda was fond of saying:

“When a student tunes in with the wisdom of a God-sent guru-preceptor, then by his efforts to follow the guru’s teaching, and by the inner guidance he receives from the guru, that student can find liberation. Those who are steadfast will ultimately be lifted into the kingdom of Cosmic Consciousness.”

The Autobiography of a Yogi is Yogananda’s (1893-1952) story of how he went from being a horribly sick boy on his death bed in India at the age of eight to one of the greatest yogis ever, the first yoga master of India to teach and live in the West. Beginning in the 1920s, he filled the largest halls in America. He founded a spiritual center in California (Self-Realization Fellowship), and his teachings still inspire our spiritual evolution here in the West as well as around the world.

So it was, while walking with Yogananda, first in the pages of his autobiography, written and published in 1946, followed by many of his other books (The Yoga of Jesus and Whispers from Eternity, two of my personal favorites) and via studying his Self-Realization Fellowship Lessons (which I receive in the mail every other week), I discovered the first spiritual bridge I needed to build and somehow get across.

So much for taking it easy. I stumbled my way to rough waters right out of the visitors’ center!

But so did Yogananda. Despite serious health issues, family tragedies, and the tests he faced in life, both small and large, he persevered until he figured out what his life purpose was and began living it. And he discovered these truths in the most unusual situations.

Yogananda helped me see that my spiritual evolution also began at a young age. I had an experience in my life at the tender age of eleven that I’ve had a difficult time getting out of my head and dreams. It was something that happened that kept replaying over and over again in my mind, as if there were an instant replay button my universal guardians and advisors kept pressing until the day I woke up and figured out what I was to learn from that moment in time.

My first I-AGE crisis began when I was in Middle School. Sixth Grade to be exact. PE (Physical Education) Class to be even more exact. While I was being tormented by my teachers and their God-forsaken stopwatches.

In order to pass PE, I had to run around our entire school grounds in seven minutes or less.

I was an eleven-year-old with allergies and asthma who was also overweight, not obese but definitely on the hefty side. One of the kids who needed that Husky label on their jeans (which has to be the absolute worst labeling idea ever, but I digress...)

Running anywhere for any length of time was difficult for me. I simply couldn’t breathe and run at the same time.

The more frustrated I got not being able to keep up with the other kids, the more difficult my breathing became until I’d often end up hyperventilating or throwing up. Need I forget the embarrassing tomato-red face and drenched hair and body I’d end up with after attempting this feat, which really stacked up nicely compared to the other kids who barely broke a sweat.

We practiced the seven-minute timed run at least once per week, and I failed miserably each and every time. That damn stopwatch and I were not on the same earthly plane, at all.

For years, I had nightmares about rounding the last corner of the building, the home stretch, and seeing one of my teachers, peering over the top of his glasses, glaring at me and then back at that awful watch, shaking his head, while the other teacher yelled so loud the entire neighborhood around the school could hear her screeching:

“C’mon Wagner, pick it up. You can do better than that. Move it!”

They’d given up on me, and made sure everyone knew that they had, making it even more difficult for me not to give up on myself.

To make it worse, and even more traumatizing, all of my classmates were chatting, giggling and whispering, lined up on the school lawn watching me huff and puff my way to the finish line.

One of my friends, who not by accident is still one of my best friends, and who is also a Brazilian Jiu-jitsu World Champion (5X Masters No-Gi Pans Champ and 4X Masters No-Gi World Champ), would always get up and run back to me, staying right with me, coaching me all the way to the finish line. (Thank you, Joel Blanton. I’ll never forget your kindness.)

Despite my sweet friend’s coaching, never once was I good enough to beat that damn stopwatch. The nightmares about this experience continued, fairly frequently, until after I started reading Yogananda’s book.

***Note: I did manage to eliminate the seven-minute run requirement. I was a student helper in the office, and one day I found the courage to talk to the principal about it, explaining in the most loving-kind way that my sixth grade self knew how to express that, with his weight, he probably couldn’t run that fast either. I ended up having to write extra papers on various sports to make up for failing the requirement, but I did pass PE with an ‘A’.

Yogananda taught me that on the path to spiritual awakening there are no stopwatches. He didn’t say those exact words, of course, at least not that I’ve read thus far, but the fact that his spiritual journey began when he was a young boy and continued his entire life, without a time schedule and without any pass or fail requirements, inspired me.

In fact, since I’ve awakened, I no longer keep track of time, at all. I don’t wear watches. And I seldom know what day of the week it is or what the date is. The only concepts of time that affect me now are the wonderful moments of repeater numbers—1:11, 11:11, 10:10, and so forth—that I always seem to catch when glancing at clocks and/or my phone, those divine moments when our spirit guides are sending us messages. (More on this later.)

The moments in Yogananda’s life where he learned the most weren’t marked by instruments of time. He achieved his greatest spiritual awakenings in the moments surrounded by the toughest lessons, the biggest disappointments and the greatest personal pain and hardships.

He learned to put faith only in his relationship with God and taught others that:

“the fact remains that a soul, however wrong in its outward, egoic behavior, is really a sleeping son of God.”

This idea really helped me forgive my PE teachers and all of the kids who laughed at me. Although, it took me to the age of forty-three to get there, I finally was able to let go of the pain they caused me and forgive each of them, realizing that if they were awakened and attuned to a loving-kind, God-conscious way of life, and not sleeping sons and daughters of God, they would never have acted in the ways they chose to at that moment in time.

We’ve all done things and will continue to do things that are not loving-kind, that are not acting within the realms of our Highest Self. This reminds me of a portion of Yogananda’s version of the Lord’s Prayer, which I’ve come to love: It goes like this:

“May we forgive those who offend us, ever mindful of our own need for Thine unmerited mercy.”

Isn’t that beautifully interpreted?

“...ever mindful of our own need for Thine unmerited mercy.”

I love that!

So that's my beef with stopwatches. In my next post, I'll fill you in on my love for yogis and cauliflower...

D. D. Scott's First Self-Help Spiritual Book - I AM GOOD ENOUGH - is Here!

What if you don’t have to escape into the pages of a novel to find your very own happily-ever-after?

What if there are miracles of happily-ever-after waiting for each of us and all we have to do is know where to find them?

And better yet, what if we don’t have to find them? What if we already have everything we need inside of us?

I'm so full of gratitude to be able to share with you this morning that my first self-help spiritual book is now available on Amazon.

As an Amazon Top 100 and International Bestselling Author, I’ve topped bestselling book lists with over thirty contemporary romances, humorous mysteries and on-writing books. Almost one million copies of my books have been downloaded.

But how do these accomplishments qualify me to write books on spiritual awakening?

It’s okay to wonder that. I pondered the same thing—for months!

What I discovered was that throughout my publishing career, I’ve written stories filled with love and laughter, the basic ingredients of the genres I excelled in. But what I hadn’t figured out, until my own spiritual awakening adventure began was that my life purpose was to leave fiction behind for awhile and to explore love and laughter as it applies to our very-real, everyday lives.

I asked myself, “What if I could find a way to give people a happily-ever-after in their own lives instead of providing them with a few hours of escape into the fictional worlds I create?”

This is the perfect moment to share one of the first spiritual secrets I learned...

To spiritually awaken, there’s no need to look outside of yourself. You’ve already got everything you need inside your heart and soul. You simply have to remember it’s there and tap into it.

I didn’t come to this realization on my own. I’ve had amazing teachers along my path. My journey to spiritual awakening has unfolded one book, one guru at-a-time. And that’s exactly what I’m presenting to you. In I Am Good Enough, the first book in my Let Love Glow series, I’m sharing my path to spiritual awakening one book and one guru at-a-time.

Every single time I’ve been looking for a certain piece of information, it has appeared, presented in many cases by modern spiritual teachers living according to the lessons taught by ancient, ultra-wise gurus who walked the earth centuries before us.

Most of what I’m sharing with you is not new information, it’s wholehearted approaches to life that have been practiced successfully for thousands and thousands of years across all cultures, continents and cosmic realms.

It’s all about living from Love, Forgiveness and Gratitude so that you can Create the Space for Miracles and Sweet Synchronicities to occur in your life on a daily basis.

I’ve been creating space for you to travel this path with me, perhaps for my entire life. But it wasn’t until I knew, without a doubt that, I am good enough that I found the courage to lead and teach others how to awaken. By writing this book, I’m giving you a way home to Love.

Happy Reading and Namaste ---

Sneak Peek at the Introduction of D. D. Scott's Upcoming New Age Spiritual Book - I AM GOOD ENOUGH: One Non-Guru's Path to Spiritual Awakening (No Trip to India Required)

Happy Monday DDScottville Peeps!

Every day is a Soul-full Day in DDScottville!

I'm hard at work on my upcoming release, my first New Age Spiritual Book.

I AM GOOD ENOUGH: One Non-Guru's Path to Spiritual Awakening (No Trip to India Required) will release in both ebook and print the end of August.

Last week, I treated you to a Sneak Peek at the Preface for the book. And this week, I'll share the Introduction with you, continuing to give you little peeks each week until release day.

The Non-Guru’s Path to Spiritual Awakening (No Trip to India Required)

“The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.” — Lao Tzu, The Tao Te Ching

Congratulations! You’ve taken your first step toward spiritual awakening.

You can see the path before us. But very soon, you’ll also be able to feel it as it moves you to take actions that bring more love into your life and actions that move more love out of your heart and soul and into the world. Not long after you feel the path we’re travelling, you’ll also know, without a doubt, that you’re on your path home to Heaven’s living room.

This book is filled with words from my heart, not just from my head. Words and ideas that I’ve put together to explain my experiences throughout my spiritual awakening journey. I’ll also be quoting from my teachers the words they’ve shared that have gone straight from their hearts and souls into mine and now from mine into yours.

Visualize these messages coming to you on that glowing white cord connecting me to you, the same cord that connects me to the sources of ancient and modern wisdom we’re tapping into. A cord vibrating with so much love that we can Let Love Glow together, increasing the strength of our connection as well as allowing others to see, feel and know that we’re here for them to connect to as well.

As you read this book, see and feel my heart opening to you, pouring out light and love. The glow and warmth of universal unconditional love forming a Glinda the Good Witch-like protective bubble as you walk the path to spiritual awakening.

Along the way, I’ll be sending you extra lights of guidance that I call Lotus Lights. These Lotus Lights will help you continue to rise out of the dark mud of your ego. (The outer physical world uses our egos to try to hold us back and prevent our progress. Much more on this later.) I call them Lotus Lights because the lotus, one of the most-used symbols of enlightenment today, is a perfect example of a being that continues to rise each day despite having to travel through the muddy bottoms of the waterways it calls home. And it makes this journey without a single stain to show for it on its glorious petals, prompting the great Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh to title his book on the art of transforming suffering to mindfulness No Mud No Lotus. One of my favorite mantras.

Think of my Lotus Lights as benevolent vibrations of loving-kindness leading your way along the path. It’s as if I’ve given you your own personal Tinkerbell showering you with the miraculous Divine dust that you’ve had at your disposal all along but forgotten about.

Take note of how you feel as you’re reading and walking the path with me. Both the positive and negative stirrings. Everything you see and feel on the path is important in your awakening process. Unlike your current lifestyle, which I’m certain is a lot like mine used to be, you’re no longer going to go around, repress or suppress the bad stuff. We’re going to walk right through it like we do the good stuff.

There will be many bridges along our path, helping us cross what could be troubled waters. You may need to slow down and take your time at these points so that you can truly move through and beyond them. You may even want to reread these sections at a later time, or maybe even reread the entire book, letting it guide you wherever you find yourself in each particular moment.

The spiritual journey isn’t one that you say ‘Been there, done that,’ bought the T-shirt and I’m over it. It’s one that you continuously revisit, remembering all of the little tricks, tips and tools so that you can reuse them as you need to.

On the path, you’ll find answers to many of the spiritual questions you’ve been seeking answers to. I know this because I’ve written the book based on many of the questions I’ve stumbled on while awakening, learning through my studies that most humans get tripped up over the same questions.

If journaling is your thing, do it. If it’s not, you may find that it becomes great exercise for your soul. One day, for example, while reading one of the books I’d suggested for him, my sweet DH (Darling Husband) asked me if I had an extra purple pen and journal. He suddenly felt like he needed to write down some of things he was learning and explore them further. He’s been journaling ever since.

This entire book, in fact, came from my last three journals. I’m sharing the words, techniques and concepts that captivated me in my studies and turned into valuable tools that I’m using every day to keep me moving along my spiritual awakening path.

As I mentioned earlier, spiritual awakening is a dynamic journey, not a static one, meaning that you’ll continue to advance each and every day. The interesting thing I’ve learned though is that you’re advancing while you’re moving forward as well as advancing while you’re taking a step back, the times you need to reevaluate or look at something a little closer. You’ll also advance when your body isn’t moving at all, in the sweet stillness of meditation, for example. Precious moments when your breath, your beating heart and your silent mind help you find the mystical rhythms that will take you even closer to God.

Our path is a winding one with small and large hills, leisurely valleys, lots of tranquil waters as well as a few rough seas and storms. But I promise you there is also lots of sunshine and rainbows.

The secret is to keep moving, one step at-a-time.

• • •

I’ve arranged I AM GOOD ENOUGH (I-AGE from now on) into four sections, each one filled with stories of the events in my life that made me believe I wasn’t good enough, blocking me from spiritually awakening for the first 43 years of my life.

Many of these stories I’ve never talked about, let alone written about for the world to see. These are the troubled waters I’ve had to build bridges to cross. And I can tell you now, though I would have said that that was total BS a year ago, it’s so worth the struggle to get to the other side.

I’ll show you how the concepts and themes of each spiritual/new age book I’ve read or lifestyle change I’ve made, based on ancient wisdoms and philosophies, has helped me to not only heal from my past but has allowed me to experience the methods on a very personal level. (Note: I’ve included a wonderful I-AGE Book List for you in the Appendix, listing every single book I refer to throughout I AM GOOD ENOUGH as well as the order in which I read them, so that you’ll have the wonderful synchronistic blend of miracles with each page you read as did I.)

I simply wasn’t spiritually awake enough at the time many of the events occurred to know what God was teaching me and how those challenges or failures were the points that would ultimately make my life richer and more luminous, more filled with Spirit.

Each of the four sections show the means by which I’ve been able to reprogram my thoughts and thus my life from scarcity to abundance, from stressed-out and pain-filled to a being who’s lighthearted, wise and humble.

My midlife has been the call to my soul, allowing me to grow old with grace and joy. How perfect that the acronym for I Am Good Enough is I-AGE. Because of my spiritual awakening, I’m aging with an abundance I never dreamed I’d achieve. For the first time, I’m creating space for miracles and watching them arrive daily. And I’m living my life purpose, another super-sweet miracle.

The four sections of I-AGE are:

Part I: A Spiritual Sabbatical — One Book One Guru At-a-Time
Think of Part I as the Visitors’ Center where you find huge racks filled with brochures of all that’s available to explore on the path to spiritual awakening. In our case, the brochures are books, each with various philosophies you can choose to learn and try out while you’re travelling the path of enlightenment. You’ll be able to choose the books that touch your heart and soul. You’ll learn what spiritual awakening is and how it affects every aspect of your life — your home, work, health, diet and exercise, extracurricular activities, relationships and more. There’s a spiritual solution to all of your I-AGE crises, and you’ll have the resources to choose what that solution is.

Part II: The Seeds of Spiritual Awakening
Part of the reason we suffer from so many I-AGE crises is because we’re not living our lives like a palm tree. Palm trees survive hurricane winds because their roots are so deep. They grow deep roots long before they grow tall and reach for Heaven. To spiritually awaken, we have to allow our roots to grow before we can connect with our Higher Self. To do this, you have to know the spiritual seeds to plant that, with loving-kind watering and care, will grow deep roots and then grow tall, blossoming as your personal truth, your authentic self. Accept, embrace and love your own unique vibrations. That’s how you become strong enough (and rooted deep enough) that you can begin to resonate with others at their highest vibrations. Using your seeds, you’ll learn to discover, live and grow as your Authentic and Highest Self.

Part III: The Expansion Exchange
To continue to live as your Authentic Self and begin to put together your own personal path to continued spiritual awakening, combining all you’ve learned in Parts I and II, you’ve got to build your own internal expansion exchange. Think of it as a store or exchange shop where you’ll be offered a variety of choices on how to live your daily life. It’s up to you what you choose and what you exchange for a higher, whole-hearted way of living. Here’s where I offer you my tips on how to choose love over fear, how to expand and open your heart instead of constricting it based on fears, real or imagined and how to forgive rather than hold grudges. You have a choice in each situation on your path. You just have to remember that and apply the most expansive, love-filled choice.

Part IV: Let Love Glow
Now that you know we’re naturally made to choose love, you know how to plant the seeds on your path, grow the roots deep, and pick and choose the most loving-kind blooms along the way, what do your choices mean to you and how do they affect all other beings in the universe and beyond? These final chapters offer even more tips on how to live an inspired life. Inspired means In-Spirit. Now that you’ve tapped into your Spirit, you can Let Love Glow and help others raise their vibrations and walk with us on the spiritually-awakened path.

A couple of additional notes before we take off on our journey...

My path to spiritual awakening is a holistic approach to enlightenment. What do I mean by that? I’ve learned that by taking a whole body, whole mind and whole spirit approach, the path opens up quicker, allowing the bridges built across troubled waters to be constructed with more ease. Not only are solutions found more easily by looking holistically at all crises, but also the solutions you find can be counted on for the long haul instead of acting as mere band aids to problems.

The ancient wisdom of the East has always approached life holistically, meaning, for example, if one has a disease or illness, it’s not just about what part of their body the symptoms are coming from. It’s about the food that’s going or not going into the body. It’s about what kinds of pressures, stresses, life changes and situations are going on at home. It’s about the impact of a job or daily activities. It’s about the quality of the relationships in the person’s life. It’s about his or her spiritual needs and desires and whether or not those are being met. It’s about community concerns and world issues. All of these things, not just the broken body part, are examined, and the remedies used involve many if not all of these areas of the person’s life.

Remember, my path to spiritual awakening began with one single yoga class. On the first day of class, my instructor gave us the definition of yoga. Yoga is the Sanskrit word for union. The union of the mind, body and spirit for all over well-being. It’s not about all of the poses (asanas), the special breathing (pranayama), meditation practices and hot yoga pants. It’s about the union of all of the parts of our human existence to attempt to heal and live joyfully as whole, dis-ease free beings, connected by love to the Universal One, God-Consciousness.

Here in the West, any physical problem we have tends to be isolated from the rest of our being, and then either cut out, pharmaceutically suppressed or repressed, a combination of both or ignored. Any psychological issues we have tend to be talked about and talked about and talked about on some high-dollar therapist’s couch or suppressed or repressed pharmaceutically. Any spiritual crisis we have tends to result in us being told we need to go to church more often, increase our tithing or join in a certain group’s methods which are sure to save us from hell.

Personally, the band aid approach of the West is not my thing. I want to learn every possible thing I can about everything going on in my life, and I want to then use all of that information to heal in total from the inside out. I want to become the whole-hearted, perfectly healthy soul I was when I first came back to Earth for another run.

I love how the great yogi Paramahansa Yogananda explained it in 1925 when he founded Self-Realization (A Magazine Devoted to Healing of Body, Mind, and Soul). Yogananda wrote that the purpose of Self-Realization was:

Healing the body of disease by proper diet, right living, and recharging the body with God’s all-powerful cosmic energy; removing inharmonies and inefficiency from the mind by concentration, constructive thinking, and cheerfulness; and freeing the ever perfect soul from the bonds of spiritual ignorance by meditation.

When I’m writing fiction, one of the tools I use is called multi-pass editing. What that means is that in order to continue going deeper into my story and into my characters’ heads, I take multiple passes through the pages I’ve written, continuing to flesh out the story by adding new things and taking out those things that are no longer working or are no longer true.

In this same way, you must be willing to get inside your body, mind, heart and soul/spirit and go multi-pass deep. It’s okay if on the first pass through the book you don’t get the material and perhaps don’t feel it at a soul level. Go for a second pass. A third. A fourth. However many passes you need. No one is keeping track or using a stopwatch to time your journey (more on my lack of love for stopwatches in the first chapter).

My path and this book are not based on any one spiritual path. In fact, you’ll see that I reference a diverse selection of cultures and philosophies.

Being spiritually awake is recognizing at a soul level that we are all one. We are not separate. We are one source of love and light manifesting in a variety of material bodies and in various incarnations.

I’m not showing you the only path to spiritual awakening. I’m showing you my path — the blend that it is after learning from others who’ve had their own paths. Like you will create your own path, taking bits and pieces from mine and any others that resonate with you.
My sincerest intention and hope is that my path helps you remember your way home.

This is not about religions. This is about a connection via our spirits and hearts and the temples we each were born with inside of us.
I do use the term God as my choice of name for the Great Creator, the magnificent, all-encompassing one-ness that is inside all of us, the Source of universal unconditional love that provides the vibrations of loving-kindness connecting us all. If you call this presence Allah, Jehovah, Yahweh, Shiva, Vishnu, Krishna or any other name, you’re welcome here.

I honor each of you and your paths. I honor you in the spirit of the ancient greeting ‘Namaste’ — the highest in me honors the highest in you.

All paths are honored here.

Hugs and Love ---

Sneak Peek at the Cover and Preface for D. D. Scott's Upcoming New Age Spiritual Book - I AM GOOD ENOUGH: One Non-Guru's Path to Spiritual Awakening (No Trip to India Required)

Happy Soul-Full Sunday Peeps!

I'm so tickled to be able to share with you the beautiful cover for my upcoming book...

I AM GOOD ENOUGH: One Non-Guru's Path to Spiritual Awakening (No Trip to India Required) will release the end of August.

You may be wondering how and why I'm going from a career as an International Bestselling Contemporary Romance and Humorous Mystery Author to becoming a Spiritual-Awakening Ambassador writing non-fiction New Age books. What has lead me from building communities of readers to building a community (Let Love Glow) where spiritually-awakened or awakening beings can connect and spread unconditional love around the world?

This book is my attempt to explain what I think is happening...all in Divine Time and with Divine Inspiration.

Here's a fabulous sneak peek at the preface for the book which fills you in on all of the wonderful details...

I Am Good Enough...and So Are You

“The Self That God created needs nothing. It is forever complete, safe, loved and loving. It seeks to share rather than to get; to extend rather than project. It has no needs and wants to join with others out of their mutual awareness of abundance.” — A Course in Miracles

I needed a miracle. But I didn’t know it. So I didn’t have it scheduled-in on my OCD-detailed To-Do List. And because that’s the way I used to live, I could have missed the life-altering moment when the mighty wall around my heart cracked, allowing my soul to awaken and walk toward a spiritual bliss and freedom that I’d all but given up on experiencing.

Not until that day, February 12, 2014, about a month before I celebrated my 43rd birthday, did I figure out that I didn’t have a clue who I was or what my life purpose was for this incarnation.

The day started like any other Wednesday at that time in my life. I got up around 6 AM, took my two much-beloved boys — Buckley, our Springer Spaniel, who’s more than a little intuitively talented, and Sigmund Freud (Siggy or Freud Boy for short), our Affenpinscher, who was and still remains clueless — for their morning walk around the block.

I fixed breakfast for myself and my wonderfully sweet husband Scott. Back then, breakfast consisted of a couple of eggs, over-hard, a couple of pieces of sourdough toast with a butter-like spread (not real butter because we ate “healthy”...well, we thought we did) and a couple of cups of decaf coffee for me and a hearty dark brew, full-on caffeinated for Scott, both with very healthy servings of agave syrup.

By 8:30 AM, I was pedaling my super-cool three-wheeled DeSoto Classic trike through our retirement community in Sarasota Florida, on my way to yoga class, my yoga mat and towel in the groovy basket between the back two wheels, and Scott on his bike behind me.

We had started taking yoga classes two days per week, on Mondays and Fridays, as part of our New Year’s fitness resolutions. We’d added a third class, on Wednesdays, because we adored a beautifully-spirited being, named Wendy, in our regular classes who taught her own class on Wednesdays. Wendy’s voice is that of an angel sent from the highest of highs in heaven, her low, deep and peaceful resonance is a therapeutic massage to my soul. I often teased her that I was going to record her classes so that when I was home, practicing the poses she taught me, I could hear her divine encouragement.

She began each class taking us through a series of basic poses like Tree Pose, Rag Doll and a few nice-and-easy Sun Salutations. That life-changing day, she did the same. But after our third Sun Salutation, she asked all of us to stop for a moment and look into the bank of mirrors covering the east wall of the studio. She didn’t want us to simply glance in the mirrors, she explained. She wanted us to really, really look into those mirrors and truly see ourselves, exactly as we were in that singular instant.

This made me extremely uncomfortable. I didn’t like mirrors, at all. Growing up, I’d looked in way too many of them over the eighteen years that I took dance lessons and performed in junior civic theatre, each time, seeing that I was by far the chunkiest kid in the room. Oh, I was very, very talented (always in the lead role and eventually voted Most Talented my senior year of high school), but I was also very, very pudgy. Let’s just say that wearing leotards and tights always made me feel ridiculous. And I just knew that everyone else who saw me in them had to be thinking the same thing.

Despite my personal horror at looking into mirrors, I did as Wendy instructed. I trusted her. In addition, all of the other students were doing as they were told so who was I not to follow? I certainly didn’t want to disrespect Wendy’s outstanding leadership. Her methods in the studio had made me a true believer in the healing power of yoga. I reminded myself of the blessings that she had helped me manifest in recent days. For the first time in the three years that I’d been suffering, I was beginning to get some relief from the horrible pain of my Crohn’s Diseased-body.

So, yes, I pulled up my big-girl panties (thrilled that I could wear them with my black loose-fitting leggings...there was no way in hell I was squeezing my thunder thighs into a pair of those fantastic, whimsically printed yoga pants), and I looked into those ungodly large mirrors.

Wendy then said, “Now repeat with me, ‘I Am Good Enough.’”

The room went silent.

I took a small amount of comfort in the fact that no one, out of the twenty or so students, including my husband, wanted to say anything into those mirrors, let alone, ‘I Am Good Enough.’ I could tell by the looks on several faces that I wasn’t the only one who thought Wendy had crossed the line with this mortifying method.

“It’s okay. You can do it. I Am Good Enough. Say it with me. I. Am. Good. Enough,” she said, her wonderfully warm, spirit-infused tone heating up the thick blocks of ice I could now feel encasing my heart in a wall of fear.

“I Am Good Enough,” I finally whispered, so stuck in my frigid hell that I don’t know if anyone else was saying it or not. It’s as if I’d melted into myself, entering a world inside my body and mind that I was totally unfamiliar with, suspending all operation of my five senses.

“I Am Good Enough. I Am Good Enough,” I continued to whisper, not allowing my eyes to focus on any part of me reflected in that bank of mirrors. My world was a total blur.

Out of nowhere came a single tear, followed by a few more. And then the tears kept falling. And falling. Sliding down my cheeks as if they’d been waiting a long time to do just that. I wiped them away with my hands while acknowledging Wendy’s sweet, serene, all-knowing smile, gazing back at me in the mirror.

I took a couple of deep, centering breaths, accepted her gentle hug and went right back into another Rag Doll and then a nice leisurely Downward Dog, as she instructed.

After class, Scott asked me if I was okay. The caring and kind soul that he is had picked up on my struggle with the mirrors.

But I really didn’t know how to answer him. All I knew was that for some reason, and on a very deep level, saying those words — I Am Good Enough — into that mirror had cracked the frosty wall around my heart and soul that before that moment, I didn’t know was there.

I had no idea where that feeling would lead me but I knew with everything I thought I was that I would never ever be the same person.

You may be wondering how that day, as deep as it affected me, took me from a career as an International Bestselling Contemporary Romance and Humorous Mystery Author to becoming a Spiritual-Awakening Ambassador writing non-fiction New Age books. How did it lead me from building communities of readers to building a community (Let Love Glow) where spiritually-awakened or awakening beings can connect and spread unconditional love around the world?

This book is my attempt to explain what I think is happening...all in Divine Time and with Divine Inspiration.

More than a New Year’s resolution to kick-off 2014, I’d started yoga to heal the illnesses Scott and I had been suffering a great deal from. I had Crohn’s Disease, and Scott was still recovering from a double knee replacement he’d had less than a year previously. Not to mention that we were both grossly overweight, borderline obese, and were starting to experience the overall general malaise and health issues that extra pounds cause. Yoga was to help us shed the pounds and get us moving on a regular basis.

I was also heavily researching a variety of dietary and lifestyle changes that we could make to ease our all-over body aches and pains and deal with the concerns we had about our mental and spiritual health along with our physical issues.

Jan, our Monday and Friday Yoga Instructor, often brought to class the latest issue of Yoga Journal magazine. Since I’m a total information junkie and bibliophile, I immediately subscribed to the magazine and had just received my first issue the day or two before Wendy’s I Am Good Enough mirror-work.

Curious by nature and committed to, if not addicted to, learning everything I can about every subject I can squeeze into my life (I read approximately ten books per month, countless magazines and journals and devour spiritual and health-oriented articles and information posted daily to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram), I came back from Wendy’s class, inhaled my first copy of Yoga Journal and immediately downloaded onto my Kindle every New Age/Spiritual book recommended in that issue.

The psychologist in me had always been determined to fix all of my issues, and lucky (or unlucky) for my husband, I intended to fix his too. My inner Carl Jung and Abraham Maslow also knew that Wendy’s ‘I Am Good Enough’ stunt had triggered something very important for me. I believed without a doubt that whatever it was that made me lock up and tear up in front of those mirrors had to be the cause or at least part of the cause of my Crohn’s Disease.

Never much of a Western medicine kind of gal, except in emergency situations, I’d also been researching holistic and alternative therapies, which was how we’d ended up in yoga studios to begin with. We were also buying all of our food and many of our household products at Whole Foods Markets, eating and consuming as much organic and non-processed everything that we could find.

We were on a path to something big. I felt it with all that I was at the time. But little did I know that it would be our path home. Home to Spirit, to God, to Oneness with All Beings, or whatever you’re comfortable calling it.

What I’ve learned travelling my spiritual path is that not only am I good enough, but every single one of us is good enough. We don’t have to be gurus. We don’t have to take expensive trips to India and ashrams in other far-away places. We don’t have to be of any one religion or go to church or temple on a regular basis. And we don’t have to look great in leotards and tights or hot yoga pants.

Most importantly, we don’t have to be afraid. Why not? Because we’re not alone. There’s plenty of room to walk the path together. In fact, whether we’re aware of it or not, we are always on the path together, walking each other home, as one of my favorite gurus Ram Dass says.

On that note then, welcome to my path, my journey of Spiritual Awakening.

I’ve always been drawn to photographs, paintings and sculptures of paths with open gates or doors inviting me to follow them and find out what’s around the next bend. In fact, my home is full of these kinds of images, and I enjoy looking at them each and every day.

Not until my own spiritual awakening, however, did I realize how significant my love for paths was in my spiritual awakening process. I learned that paths symbolize the fact that I’ve always been searching for something. I just didn’t know what it was. And I certainly didn’t know where to find it. But I knew that something was missing from my life. Something spectacular. And something with purpose and meaning.

Sound familiar?

I’ve been creating space for you to travel this path with me perhaps for my entire life. But it wasn’t until I knew, without a doubt that, I am good enough, that I found the courage to lead and teach other beings how to awaken. Writing this book is my first endeavor to help you find your way home.

I’m an International Bestselling Fiction and Non-Fiction Author. I’ve topped the charts with over thirty contemporary romances, humorous mysteries and on-writing books. And I’ve sold over 600,000 copies. But how do those accomplishments qualify me to write books on spiritual awakening?

It’s okay to wonder that. I pondered the same thing — for months. What I discovered was that throughout my writing career, I’ve always been compelled to write stories filled with love and laughter, the basic ingredients of the genres I excelled in. But what I hadn’t figured out, until my own spiritual adventure began in front of those mirrors, was that my life purpose was to leave fiction behind for awhile and to explore love and laughter as it applies to our very-real, everyday lives and spiritual explorations.

I asked myself ‘What if I could find a way to give all of my readers a happily-ever-after in their own lives, and not just provide them with a few hours of escape into the fictional worlds I create?’

Like many of you, I read fiction novels and novellas filled with love and lots of humor to escape from the sadness and at-times horrible realities that we call life on Earth. My love of reading those kinds of heart-warming stories since I was a young teenager is why I began writing them.

But what if we didn’t have to escape into the pages of a novel? What if there were miracles of happily-ever-after waiting for each of us and all we have to do is know where to find them? And better still, what if we didn’t have to find them? What if we had everything we needed inside of us all along?

This is the perfect moment to share one of the first spiritual secrets I learned...

To spiritually awaken, there’s no need to look outside of ourselves. We’ve already got everything we need inside our hearts and souls. We simply have to remember it’s there and tap into it.

As A Course in Miracles says in the quote I chose to introduce this chapter:

“The Self That God created needs nothing. It is forever complete, safe, loved and loving. It seeks to share rather than to get; to extend rather than project. It has no needs and wants to join with others out of their mutual awareness of abundance.” — A Course in Miracles

I’ve spent the last fifteen years teaching thousands of writers around the world (on the award-winning site I co-founded The WG2E — The Writer’s Guide to Epublishing — and in numerous public appearances, conference classes, online seminars, internet radio and lectures) how-to survive and thrive in the writing and publishing world. But not until my ‘I Am Good Enough’ encounter did I begin to think that maybe my life purpose was more than creating fictional journeys and inspiring fellow writers. Maybe my life purpose was helping people with their real-life, everyday journeys home to the loving-kind place we all came from and will someday soon return to.

I didn’t come to this realization on my own. I’ve had amazing teachers on my path. A large part of my purpose in writing this book (and the entire Let Love Glow series) is to share the information I’ve learned.

There’s a Buddhist Proverb that reads, “When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.” I’ve had so many inspiring teachers appearing exactly when I’ve needed them, sharing exactly what I needed to know next. And during my journey the last year and a half I’ve had so many miraculous, highly synchronistic experiences.

Every single time I’ve been looking for a certain piece of information, it has appeared, presented in many cases by modern spiritual teachers living according to the lessons taught by ancient ultra-wise gurus who walked the Earth centuries before us. So most of what I’m sharing with you isn’t new information. It includes amazing approaches to life that have been practiced successfully for thousands and thousands of years across all cultures and continents.

My journey of spiritual awakening has unfolded one book one guru at-a-time. And that’s exactly what I’m going to present to you in this book. In I AM GOOD ENOUGH, the first book in my new Let Love Glow series, I’m sharing with you a path to spiritual awakening one book and one guru at-at-time.

Just like the synchronistic miracles I’ve been blessed with on my journey, the Universe has aligned our stars — yours and mine, through this book, leading us to this moment together, exploring our path home side-by-side, page-by-page.

The one thing that my readers and audiences (as well as people I meet at the grocery store and produce markets, coffee and tea shops, and anywhere else I go) comment on is that I’m always happy and usually smiling. They ask me if I’m always that way. Asking me how I stay so positive. And asking me what’s my secret to never-ending smiles. Answering their sweet questions I usually say something to the effect that I choose to be this way. I choose to be happy and cheerful, sharing a smile and a positive outlook. I love to light up the world a bit.
After a year and a half on my spiritual path, I realize that I’ve always intuitively, at my heart and soul level, known that I have that choice. I have a choice whether or not to smile and whether or not to be love and share love.

But I never dreamed that because I was consciously making that choice each day that I could help save the world, one being, one loving-kind act and one blissful moment at-a-time.

I have always chosen to Let Love Glow, even when I was miserable inside or suffering a great deal on the outside, whether from the normal ups and downs of life or from mistakes that I’ve made or the tough pain of living with Crohn’s Disease.

What I know now though is that I don’t have to be miserable, at all. I’d mastered looking the part of peace and happiness on the outside, but now I’m well on my way to healing from the inside, feeling peace and joy authentically, with every ounce of spirit and matter that I am.

What I’ve learned is how positively, spiritually-pure and powerful acts of sharing loving-kind vibrations can be. And it’s not only that I can share the vibrations with a smile and cheerful countenance but that also, energetically, I can actually help you recalibrate and increase your vibrations. By sharing my path to Spirit, I can raise your vibrations, too. (Note: If you’re the kind of human who loves the science behind our truths, throughout the book, I’ll point you in the direction of fabulous research. There’s actually science to prove this! That said, I’ve learned that science can be highly over-rated and unnecessary. We’re simply not open-hearted enough yet to prove a lot of things scientifically. Maybe you’ll come to that conclusion or maybe not. Whatever works for you! Either way, I’ll refer you to the research so you can check it out. It really is fascinating reading.)

Every day since my ‘I Am Good Enough’ experience, I’ve continued to grow into the spiritual being that I’ve been supposed to be since the day I came through the latest portal of my choosing to Earth as a human infant. I’m walking the path home. And I’m so honored that you’ve chosen to walk it with me.

One pivotal moment of looking in those mirrors and saying four words — I Am Good Enough, got me onto the path that has led me so much closer to home. And keep in mind that all I did was say the words. At that point in my life, I sure as hell didn’t believe them. Now, less than eighteen months later, I know without a doubt that these words are not just my truth, but your truth too. I Am Good Enough and So Are You.

These words served as the inspiration for this book and my new community Let Love Glow. (Much more on that later in the book.)

This is the most important work of my life. Making a bestselling books list is peanuts compared to being called upon to share the transformative energy and love that I’ve received from Divine Guidance, various teachers and wonderful resources along my path. And what’s fantastic about it is that I don’t have to wait until I’m a prominent guru in the field of new age spirituality to share what I’ve learned. All I need is willingness and a pure heart.

Let’s be real, not all of us, in this very moment, have the resources to jet off to India or pay thousands of dollars to attend one of the many wonderful conferences held each year featuring the world’s top teachers. Not that I don’t believe in and know that we each have the abundance of the universe on our side if that’s what we ultimately want to do. But on this earthly plane, those kinds of trips can take time to manifest.

In the meantime, with my book, you can relax on your couch, in your pajamas or underwear, with a glass of wine, tea or coffee, and get started on your own path to spiritual awakening.

As you’ll soon see, feel and know, right now is all that matters. Not what happened yesterday or who you thought you were yesterday. Not tomorrow and who you plan to be tomorrow. Just today. The present. Right now. Whoever you are this second.

Whoever that is, know that you are good enough, and you’re ready to walk with me.

My intention writing this book is to provide you with what one of my favorite teachers Dr. Barbara De Angelis calls Practical Spirituality. I’ll not only share with you the wonderfully mystical philosophies of the old world as well as cutting-edge metaphysical discoveries and the latest quantum physics applications, but also the exercises and techniques I’m using, based on these findings, to awaken my spirit each and every day. All without taking a trip to India.

Some of these exercises, techniques and the concepts behind them may seem tough to digest at first. And that’s okay. They were tough for me too, and you’ll learn that they were tough for the enlightened masters and gurus that have walked before us for centuries. They’re difficult to grasp because we literally have to retrain our minds, reversing the direction of most everything we’ve been taught when it comes to connecting our minds, bodies and spirits and their purposes while here on Earth.

Know too that our path won’t be a straight line. And there will be a bunch of potholes and detours along the way. All you need is the courage to stay the course, the faith that this is your way home. You are good enough to go the distance from your living room to God’s living room. You have all of the hope you need already inside you. You simply must remember it’s there and tap into its sweet loving strength.

You can take comfort in the fact that the path is always there, waiting for you to continue to walk it or perhaps step back onto it after a detour or two.

It’s not a static path either but one filled with amazing energy, miracles, sweet synchronicities, groovy dances, heart and soul movements, changes, shifts and awakening and recalibrated vibrations. You’ll be stopping to chat with places inside you that you’ve forgotten about (either on purpose or unintentionally), places you didn’t know existed or those you’ve chosen to ignore and skip on by.

I’m honored to help you navigate your path to spiritual awakening, and I’m looking forward to sharing the journey with you. We’ll learn a lot from each other, surrounded by and connected to the love coming from our hearts and expanding into the entire Universe and beyond.
Imagine that I’m standing beside you on a beautiful path, perhaps leading into a magnificent rain forest, or along a tropical beach of white sand and wonderful waves, or into the private sanctuary of a secret garden filled with butterflies and koi fish ponds. There’s a glowing white light reaching from my being to you. It’s connecting my heart to your heart.

We’re ready to walk now. Open your mind, your body and your soul and keep them open. There are so many amazing things for you to both give and receive along this path. Go ahead now. Take that first step. No big leaps necessary. Just a nice little baby-step will be more than fine. I’m right here to guide you.

Let Love Glow - A Brand New DDScottville Community is Coming Soon!!!

Waving atchya, DDScottville Peeps!!!

Here we are, already one month into a brand new year. Time sure does fly, doesn't it? I've now been writing bestselling books full of heart and loads of humor too for over fifteen years. (I'm shaking my head typing this, having no idea where the time has gone.)

Over the years, I've found a very sweet success, thanks to you (all of my amazing readers). And, I'm so very, very grateful.

Along the way, I've also grown stronger than I ever imagined possible, because of and despite the often painful lessons of the publishing industry. This is a tough, tough business, where industry "professionals" seem to enjoy ripping apart the creative work and spirit of writers/authors. Loving-kindness is often in short supply. And ego is all-too-often large and in charge.

What's kept me in the game for going on two decades is first the passion I have for creating and writing stories that treat you (my readers) to a wonderful escape from everyday life and all of its heartache and hardships. Second, it's my passion for love in general, the idea that each of us can have our very own happily-ever-after, whatever that looks like in our hearts.

The interesting thing is that not until this last year, thanks to the amazing spiritual journey I've been on, a journey that I didn't even know I wanted to be on or needed to be on to begin to find my life purpose, have I realized that maybe it's not about helping people escape into a fictional world that is all-things love and laughter. Maybe, what I can do is help each of us live our everyday lives filled with love, kindness, inspiration, joy, abundance and passion.

I've connected with amazing people, wonderful groups of people, from around the world who I'm so grateful to be able to share with you. They're doing exciting things, leading and/or participating in fantastic projects, working hard to make this world a loving-kind and healthy place to live (physically, emotionally and spiritually).

What if...

What if...I could create a wonderfully inspiring, multi-media, international community full of the love and laughter that I used to only find in the fictional worlds I created? What if I could create an environment in which we could all Let Love Glow each and every day, in each and every moment? And yes, I'll be writing a bunch of non-fiction books about my journey and adventures, sharing all of the how-to's that have helped me look within and live from my heart.

I'm not asking "What if's" in my life anymore. I'm manifesting my intentions to make the world a more loving place and then letting go to see what happens. In that spirit, I'm over the moon to introduce...

Let Love Glow

I can't wait to share the love with you!

Can you even imagine what it would be like to only share terrifically positive and loving news and information each day? I can! And I'm going to give it a whirl!!!

Stay-tuned for #LetLoveGlow

We've got so much love to share!!!

D. D. Scott's Next Canine Character Has Arrived: Say Hello to Vanna White!

Wavin' atchya, DDScottville Peeps!

As many of you know, I love creating canine characters for my books, sometimes more than the human ones (LOL!). And I've got a fabulous addition to introduce you to today...

Say hello to Vanna White...

Vanna is the BFF of Kristianico's Crown Prince David Magnus (King Dario's brother), and she just made her debut onto my pages in The Royal Heirs Book 3 - KRISTIANICO'S CROWN PRINCE.

She's a white miniature schnauzer and is beyond adorable. There's no better representative of loyalty and unconditional love.

I chose to bring her to life in the book for two reasons:

1. When I was a little girl, I had a miniature schnauzer I adored named Muffin. She was salt-and-pepper colored and was a wonderful playmate. She loved to be dressed up in our doll clothes. She always ate the toothbrushes out of my friends' overnight bags. And she slept in my bed every night for at least half the night (the other half she'd sleep with my sister).

2. As an adult, one of my neighbors had a beautiful white boxer named Vanna White. I thought it was the perfect name for a sweet white dog and knew the idea would make it into one of my books.

You're going to fall in love with Vanna as does the entire kingdom of Kristianico.

KRISTIANICO'S CROWN PRINCE releases on or before Valentine's Day and you can read a Sneak Peek Excerpt here.

Hugs and Love --- DD
